While one student may not be of much value to the team, do we ever stop to think about how much value the team may be to that student? - M. Krass [more]

Robotics Participation Patch for Girl Scouts who participate in ANY FIRST event!
A message sent to us from the Girl Scouts:
Girl Scouts of the USA has created a participation patch (see below, click for larger version) for ALL Girl Scouts who participate in ANY FIRST competition, tournament, or championship event. These patches are only available at your local/regional Council Store. Wear it and represent girl-power on and off the FIRST playing field!! For more information on spreading FIRST programs to Girl Scouts troops and councils, please contact Suman Sabastin, STEM Project Manager for Technology and Engineering Initiatives at ssabastin@girlscouts.org
Special thanks to the Girl Scout members of PoJo Robotics (FRC #1302) and Rock n' Roll Robots (FTC team comprised of girls from Greater Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, and Mt. Wilson Vista Girl Scout Councils) in helping to conceptualize this patch.
... for real, this time, with Greg Marra, the 60th honoree! There are a few queued up for the next couple months, but in order to keep things going steady throughout the whole season, your nominations are needed. Head over to the nomination page and tell stories of your mentors, heroes, friends, and coaches who deserve recognition for their hard work throughout the FIRST community. Before you nominate, be sure to check out the rules/tips paper for guidelines on what makes a good essay.
Elevation is played on a 12'x12' square field. Two alliances - one "red" and one "blue" - composed of two teams each, compete in each match which consists of a twenty-second autonomous period followed by two minutes of driver-controlled play.
The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent alliance by placing cubes into goals, and by "owning" goals by having the highest cube in a given goal. Points can also be earned by "parking" on the platform or by "controlling" the bonus cube.
A bonus is awarded to the alliance that has the most total points at the end of the Autonomous Period.
More information about the game is available on the Elevation game page at VEXRobotics.com. There are already over 60 events in 6 countries ready to play Elevation this year -- check them out at RobotEvents.com.
